Imogen Marsteller is a London-based painter. She has a distinctive painting style where she fuses a graphic and painterly sensibility, as evidenced by her strong use of line, playful colour choices and shade, with a visual focus on contemporary intimacy. Imogen has a wide range of art historical influences, including Pop, Renaissance and Baroque art, with a particular interest in female artists. Her paintings function as feminist coming-of-age stories inspired by her own life experiences, the lives of the women around her, and how women's stories are being told to wider audiences through media such as film.
After completing a BA in Visual Arts and Art and Architectural History at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, she spent seven months working at The Fish Factory Creative Centre of Stöðvarfjörður in the east of Iceland, where she worked in relative isolation and was able to experiment freely and hone her stylistic choices. Imogen has a passion for continual learning and is currently working toward her Master of Fine Arts at Goldsmiths University of London, where she is expected to graduate in 2023.
